You will need …

  • ½ cup (10-12) puffed lotus seeds (makhanas) 

  • 1 tsp ghee for roasting 

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • Pinch of cardamom powder (optional)

How to make Makhana kheer Exactly

  1. Heat 1 tsp ghee in a kadhai. Add makhanas.

  2. Roast the makhanas on low flame for 3-4 minutes till the makhanas are crisp.

  3. Crush into a powder using a grinder/food processor.

  4. Put the ground makhana powder in a pan.

  5. Add ½ cup milk and boil the milk on low flame for 6-7 minutes while stirring constantly till the mixture has thickened.

  6. Add sugar and cardamom powder (optional) serve warm.

Makhana Kheer Tips:

If you wish to loosen up the consistency to suit your baby, you may add spoons of hot water before taking the kheer off the flame.
